Welcome to Destination Education - A collaborative program hosted by Ocean Wise, Science World and Hosteling International.
Travel to Vancouver to re-imagine your role in creating a healthier community and world. Spend your first full day at Science World to dig into the science process and connect to the local environment through indoor and outdoor interactive exhibits and programming to explore the sustainability choices you make about transportation, energy, water, food, waste and housing. The next day, discover BC marine ecosystems and the impact of micro plastics on these ecosystems in the interactive wet lab and galleries at the Vancouver Aquarium. In a beach and classroom based session, you will practice the techniques our scientists use to extract micro plastics from shoreline samples and will be able to replicate the lab in your home community. Your group will stay at the Jericho beach hostel, learn to travel with purpose and take part in a service project such as shoreline clean up or restoration work in the Jericho Beach community.
