The goal that I will be focusing on is Goal C
Goal C is the "By 2020, Canadians have adequate and relevant information about biodiversity and ecosystem services to support conservation planning and decision making.". Goals A, B, and D are interconnected and dependant on C. To ensure the success of the other goals, goal C needs to be achieved. Without having adequate education about biodiversity, people will not feel the need to make a change and help sustain and improve their own local biodiversity. To ensure change, people first need to learn why it is so important to take care of the ecosystems and biodiversities. Since goals A, B, and D are dependant on goal C, hypothetically if C is achieved the others will follow behind. C would start the trickle effect and begin the change.
There are four targets within goal C: target 14, 15, 16 and 17. Target 14 would help increase the awareness people have for their ecosystems and the relationship and them impact they have on them. Target 15 would help ensure that whatever steps people took to help the environment, they do them in a way that respects Aboriginal traditions. Target 16 would make sure that there are specific areas that are protected and used to sustain the ecosystems. Target 17 will help people understand how important and valuable it is to make sure ecosystems and biodiversities are sustainable.
